Part of why I am starting this new blog is to document and share our new life with others. Army life was very unknown to me before starting this process. At this point, I've been so impressed by it that I would even love to join and be dual military. However, there are lots of hurdles with having a 23-month baby boy. I'm hoping to use this blog to share our lives with family and friends who are far away from us and won't always be there when we move to new duty stations.
The most testing time was when Daniel was at Basic Training. We were only able to communicate via snail mail. I am so grateful for technology because we were able to follow his journey on facebook and other online photo sources. I immediately became friends with another army wife whose husband had sworn in the same day as Daniel. She lived less than a half our away from me and brought me great relief when I missed my hubby. We met for the first time when we saw our husbands graduate.
Graduation was the best reward for our time apart. Knowing that the hardest part was behind us made going forward much easier (yet, in some ways more difficult).
We have finally made it to our first duty station (or FDS). We would have been on a month long wait for on-base housing, which means if we went that direction we would still be living in a hotel. So we found an off-base home and are loving it. We are half way through the painting, set up our furniture, and are now just getting our clothes hung up (as well as more unpacking!). We are so happy. We meet new neighbors everyday.
We are not really sure what's in store for us next, but still just take everything one day at a time. Hopefully I'll have pics of our home up in the next couple of weeks!
